Bragg's Bylines






                                May 8, 2015

Field Trip - Permission slips for our field trip to the Merrillville Planetarium are in your child’s Friday Folder.  Please sign and return the bottom portion with the $2.00 by Monday, May 8.  Our classroom has its two chaperones.  Thank you to everyone who volunteered.  I wish we could take more of you; however, there is limited seating in the planetarium auditorium.

ISTEP - We will have two more ISTEP tests next week.  Both of them are language arts.  We will take one on Monday, and one on Tuesday.  Please make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep on Sunday and Monday nights.

Reading - Next week we’ll be reading the story “Good-Bye 382 Shin Dang Dong .”  We’ll be reviewing the skill of sequencing.  Our vocabulary words are:
    airport - a place where airplanes are able to take off and land
    cellar - an underground room or rooms, usually under a building
    curious - eager to find out or learn about new things
    delicious - tastes very good
    described - told about in words or writing
    farewell - good-bye
    homesick - wanting to go home
    memories - everything a person remembers
    raindrops - drops of rain

Spelling - Next week’s words come from the story “Good-Bye 382 Shin Dang Dong.”   They have the vowel patterns of  a, au, aw, al, augh, and ought.  The spelling words are:   because, would, fought, though, author, should, taught, could, faucet, bought, enough, daughter, touch, sausage, brought, sought, thought.

Math - We’ll be learning about probability next week.  We’ll be doing some activities and experiments that deal with probability.  It should be fun!

Sports Themed Dress Up Days - Tackling Cancer one Day at a Time

Pay a Quarter to participate each day!!!

Monday-Kick Cancer to the Moon - wear your favorite football or soccer team items
Tuesday-Shoot for a Cure for Cancer - wear your favorite basketball team items
Wednesday-Strike Out Cancer - wear your favorite baseball team or bowling items
Thursday-Let’s Get Physical and Move Cancer Out - wear your favorite exercise/workout items
Friday-Survivors Beat Cancer - wear purple to honor survivors or pink for Nancy
